Stark Trek 3 May Lose Director Roberto Orci

The upcoming Star Trek film may not be directed by Roberto Orci, which will  be his directorial debut. It was announced earlier this year that Orci would direct the third installment of the Star Trek films after JJ Abrams , who directed the past two films, left to work on other projects such as the upcoming Star Wars film.

Orci has mainly been known for his work as a writer, working on projects such as the past two Transformers movies and JJ Abrams Star Trek films. He also worked on projects such as TV’s Fringe and Sleepy Hollow, working with Co-Writer Alex Kurtzman.

Orci was chosen to direct the film since he had past experience working with Abrams in the last two Star Trek films. It was still considered  a large jump for Orci, moving from writer to director in the film, since he had never directed a film before. Many had questioned whether he would be a good choice for the director’s position and responsibilities because of his lack of directing experience.

Let us know in the comments below what you think about Orci as director of the film.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Custom Figurine

Straight from the teaser trailer for the movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, comes a custom figurine of Daisy Ridley’s mysterious character on her desert bike, and it’s for sale!

Creator Chris Hooton has created and uploaded multiple pictures of his work on his blog, Sabertooth’s Workshop. He commented on the piece saying:

“It’s a total scratch build, with a lot of cutting and sanding of random hunks of plastic coming together to reach what is pictured here,”

He went on to talk about his project more saying that the figure’s limbs are adjustable and that he also added a “slight gimmick” to the bike as well:the handlebars are adjustable, to add variation in the way the Ridley’s character rides her vehicle.

The figurine is currently for sale via auction on eBay and the current bid is going for somewhere close to $100.

Oscar Isaac on part in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

In an interview with IGN, Actor Oscar Isaac spoke about his role in the upcoming Star Wars film, the technology used to make certain parts of the film, living out his childhood dream, and watching Harrison Ford play Star War’s Han Solo.

Talking about the technology used, Oscar said:

“There was just so much love poured into it and so much care. The thing is, when you rely on the latest technology to tell your story — and that’s it — that dates. It can date badly. Whereas, when you actually make the stuff, I think there’s something about that that is a little bit more ageless.”

The actor then goes on to talk about what it was like to be on the set of the film:

“It was totally like living out a childhood dream. Being on those sets and being surrounded by those people — talking to Anthony Daniels, seeing him getting suited up, and Peter Mayhew putting on the suit again — that was incredible.”

The conversation then shifted to Harrison Fords Han Solo character:

“If you watch Harrison Ford in [the originals], he doesn’t give a f***, you know? [Laughs] He’s just being a real person. He’s funny. You can even hear little ad-libs and things like that… [It’s similar on this film]. There’s less of a formality, I think.

I think the biggest thing, the most important part of the story, is the emotional aspect of it. I think that’s what most of us were keyed into: ‘What is the emotion of the thing?’ The spectacle is secondary to that.”

IGN also asked Isaac about his thoughts on the controversial black stormtrooper situation involving Actor John Boyega, Attack the Block – great film. Isaac answered the question saying:

“What’s great about it is, it’s like, ‘Are you a racist? Here’s a perfect way of revealing that to everyone!’ [Laughs] What I loved about the trailer too is, like, the giant middle finger of the first thing you see, right off the bat: John’s face — BAM! So it is, yeah, ‘Just deal with it.'”

Batman Gone Insane in Art by Stjepan Sejic

Created by Deviant Art user nebezial, aka Stjepan Sejic, this piece depicts Gotham’s Darkest Knight gone insane. He’s been thrown into a padded cell with The Joker, ranting on about a woman with a bunny fettish, White Rabbit. The piece is just entertainingly hilarious!

Here is a brief message from the artist talking about the piece:

“So today I got schooled on the character of the White Rabbit from Batman. And you know what… I loved the concept of a villain that makes this illusion of herself only batman sees   making him  seem  completely insane.  I am still not a fan of the costume (you would think I would be…as it is well designed fetishwear), but I do love the idea..aaand so…. XD”

Spider-Man Concept Art by Artist Scola Di Mambro

This barefooted, friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man concept art was created by Artist Pietro Scola Di Mambro. The piece shows an unconventional, yet very cool Spidey in a way not really seen before in the Marvel comics. It would be interesting to see this Spider-Man pop up somewhere in the current Spiderverse storyline.
