Sega Trying To Turn Games Into Movies

Video Game company Sega is looking to turn it’s classic games into movies. The company has hired Evan Choflin, an executive at Break Media, to help them do it. Choflin has directed projects for Steve Zaillian, Dave Fincher, and CAA among other parties. He was a director for entertainment development at Break Media but he now serves as head of development and production for Stories International, a company that was started by Sega and Hakuhodo DY Group. Stories International is currently looking at adapting Altered Beast, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, Rise of Nightmares and Crazy Taxi into films.

What We Think of Marvel’s Contest of Champions

Marvel has recently released a new game, available to download for FREE, called Contest of Champions. We recently got to play the game and we liked what saw. The game revolves around a contest set up by The Collector, recently seen in Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy, that pits Kang the Conqueror, and other Marvel Villains later on in the game, against you. Both you and Kang must pick a team of superheroes from The Collector’s collection of captured Marvel heroes and villains to fight it out til one super powered team is left standing.

The introduction to the game set us up playing as the mighty god Thor against the Incredible Hulk, which would be an awesome fight to see in the Marvel Avengers movie coming up soon. The game went on to show us how to control our character’s attacks and motions which were pretty easy to learn and remember. The graphics look really good and resemble a lot of what you can find in a Street Fighter arcade game.

Later on after we were able to start building a team, we were given the chance to upgrade our team’s powers and abilities by using some type of crystals. The character’s upgrades are based on a level system so it’ll take more than just one crystal to get your characters fully upgraded but you’ll enjoy every bit of getting those crystals through some super powered beat downs.

In conclusion, we loved playing the game. The controls are easy to learn and remember, there’s a large number of Marvel characters you can choose to play as and add to your team, and the game’s storyline isn’t to shabby at all either.

Actor Irrfan Khan on Jurassic World

Actor Irrfan Khan, Life of Pi, recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter on his role in the upcoming movie, Jurassic World, where he plays the park’s owner. When asked about his role, he said:

“I’m playing the park owner, a very flamboyant person. When the first Jurassic Park came out, I barely had the money to see it, and now I’m playing a part. He’s trying to entertain the world with good intentions, but sometimes being flamboyant doesn’t mean having much wisdom.”

When asked about how Jurassic World differs from the past movies in the Jurassic Park series, he said:

“For sure it will have more vibe. It’s the Jurassic World of these times, with all the technical experimentation. It has now become a fully bloomed dinosaur amusement park. Dinosaurs in this film will definitely be scary, but this is not a horror film, so it will be like a scary adventure.”

He was then asked about the film-making process movie. Khan answered saying:

“As an actor, what’s most important is how the story and the director make you feel on the set, and that’s immaterial if you have CGI or real partners. If you have good chemistry with the director, everything’s fine, and I really loved the playfulness of the script and Colin’s approach.”

Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World is set to release June 12,2015.

Disney’s Star Wars Theme Park Will Be Based on The Force Awakens

Disney Chairman and CEO, Bob Iger, revealed at a Variety Dealmakers Breakfast that the attractions seen at Star Tours in Disneyland would change to keep to be more up to date with the upcoming Star Wars films. Iger had this to say:

“There will be a much larger ‘Star Wars’ presence in our parks globally. But we want to do this big, which takes time, and to do it right… I didn’t want someone to say, ‘I just saw the movie and there’s nothing in that movie in this (attraction).’ We waited to see what this film would have in it.”

Iger confirmed that the Disney Imagineering Team were in early development on attractions based on the films, but was then discontinued once they discovered what the new look and feel of the upcoming Star Wars films would be like. Iger went on to saying:

“We couldn’t tell them what was new. I slowed it all down so what we come forward with will have a blend of the past, present and maybe the future. Now we have a sense of what’s in ‘Star Wars 8,’ and what some of the standalone films will have in them.”
